APPLIED RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Manufacturing 21 has focused on the strengthening of our partnering institutions' mechanical, civil and materials science programs. Ultimately, we envision building world-class applied steel, fabrication, materials science and seismic programs. These interests are fully consistent with our long-range plans for a manufacturing center in the Portland area.
We are just as committed to the development of the manufacturing technology program at Oregon Institute of Technology and expanded programs at our other MFG 21 partner institutions, such as the University of Portland, community colleges and the other colleges and universities across our region. In particular, we are working to leverage the tremendous resources of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, a federal research lab located in Richland, Washington.
MFG 21’s long-term ambition is to forge meaningful and productive relationships with the entire region’s academic community.
