"As Chair of Portland Development Commission (PDC), I know how important manufacturing is to our community and how vital it is that we meet the needs of manufacturing employers for a skilled workforce and research."

MFG 21 GOALS

An Effective and Intelligent Voice For Industry

Manufacturing 21 members know the barriers to industry expansion – and regional economic growth – have evolved over time. The private sector shares a responsibility for removing these barriers through strong advocacy for education and training organizations committed to helping our companies succeed.

Since 2004, MFG 21 has helped develop a creative response to workforce development challenges and advocates for university R&D programs. MFG 21 successfully has advocated for major public investments funded through the Oregon Innovation Council, in Congress and in local communities throughout the region. This advocacy has supported our public workforce training system and produced millions in new investments for training aid at community colleges, and research and development at Washington State University, Vancouver, Portland State University and Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls.
