Oregon InC recommends $1.2 million for Manufacturing R&D investments

Published: September 04, 2008

The Existing Industries Subcommittee of the Oregon Innovation Council (Oregon InC) has recommended that the governor and the 2009 state legislature authorize $1.2 million for research and development investments advocated by the Manufacturing 21 Coalition (MFG 21).

The proposed funding will go to Portland State University (PSU) to continue laboratory expansions and equipment purchases to support manufacturing in Oregon.  An additional $750,000 investment in the Oregon Metals Initiative was supported by the committee and strongly recommended as part of the Oregon University System’s budget proposal to the governor. The two investments are key components in MFG 21’s efforts to increase the capacity of our universities to conduct cutting-edge applied research for our manufacturing companies.
